New England Puppet Intensive - Aug 5-15

2019 will mark the return of the Design and Construction Edition in which participants have a chance to dive deeper into sculpting, mold-making, casting processes, and explore the interchange between performance and design.

As well, participants will take part in a collective creation project which will be presented as part of the 2019 Berkshire Lantern Walk in partnership with the world renown Clark Art Institute. This year, our work will be inspired by Canadian artist Janet Cardiff’s acclaimed 2001 sound installation, The Forty Part Motet, which deconstructs Thomas Tallis’s sixteenth-century choral work Spem in alium (Hope in any other).

The New England Puppet Intensive aims to create an environment which fosters colloquy, experimentation, and collaborative development—framework which we believe promotes truly inspired work. Sessions begin at 9 am each day and go into the evening with breaks for communal lunch and dinner.
