Puppet JamS

In-person puppet jams are back! This series of quarterly jams is aimed at puppeteers to help skill-building, manipulation and informal project sharing.

Puppet Jam is a get together for puppeteers to practice skills and techniques, and share ideas and experience. If you would like to practice puppetry or collaborate with puppeteers in an informal setting then please come along to one of our sessions.

The group is led by the wonderful Monica Ila. Sessions might include warm-ups, exercises for technique, puppet creation/building, sharing of short performances, show & tell and discussion. The direction and content of the Jams comes from those who take part – so bring in your inspirations!

Backgrounds will range from more experienced practitioners to those just beginning and we hope that all participants can learn a little something from one another.

Bring your projects and puppets!

Monica Ila is an emerging visual artist and puppeteer. She makes large scale monsters and creates worlds for them to live within using acrylics and other media. Monica has worked on various shows with Long Grass Studio for the Festival of Animated Objects, Dolly Wiggler Cabaret and OUF! Festival Off Castieliers. She enjoys bringing the playfulness of childhood into adult life and helping to inspire others to dream along with her in whatever way she can.
